Bannon, Carlson and... Liz Truss? Exploring the Ex- PM's Foray for Maga

The former UK leader, began the first edition of her online program with a pledge to reveal "malicious actors" striving to bring down Britain, the US and Europe. She stated she would uncover how an "worldwide alliance of progressives function to weaken democracy and the will of the people."

"We will examine the Maga phenomenon and observe how it can be achieved in Britain," Truss declared. "Our guests will include the key figures of the Maga movement."

It is a humble beginning, but in partnering with Solomon, Truss is being thrust into a mature right-wing media network creating and spreading Make America Great Again themes. Key fixations encompass claims of media suppression by the established press and a aim to dismantle a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that she attributes her downfall to for the swift end of her calamitous premiership.

"Solomon's outlet is not famous outside of the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have credibility there, mostly due to Solomon, who offers opinions on Maga platforms like the program hosted by Steve Bannon and has even questioned the former president," commented Professor Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Make America Great Again phenomenon.

A Contentious Ally

The former PM's foray to bring the pro-Trump media model to the UK has aligned her more closely to contentious individuals such as the journalist.

He established his media outlet after scrutiny when allegations surfaced of pushing inaccurate reports about Biden's anti-corruption work in the Eastern European nation, as well as controversial stories about ex-ambassador to the region.

His claims were echoed within the pro-Trump media, with the journalist featuring as a common interviewee on the prominent cable news broadcast. Trump himself promoted the journalist's work.

The journalist published the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the political newspaper the political newspaper, where he had already been re-designated as an opinion writer following internal criticism about his work. These reports were central in Trump's demand for the officials in Kyiv to probe the Bidens in 2019. This pressure resulted in articles of impeachment against Trump. The Senate later acquitted the president.

She has already interviewed Steve Bannon on a debut installment.

In linking up with the journalist and his outlet, the former leader has become a niche participant in a much wider network of pro-Trump platforms that routinely cross-promote stories.

The journalist's podcast and Real America's Voice show have often featured individuals such as influencer Mike Benz, a political voice whose disparagement of the foreign aid agency was used by the tech billionaire as grounds for dismantling the international development organization.

An International Strategy

While the former PM's unnatural presentation and professional woes have drawn derision at home, some US observers are not discounting her attempts to revamp her image as a British branch of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.

"One must regard people like Truss as significant, although you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," said Rob Flaherty, who worked in the Biden administration.

"You saw how in the last election cycle Donald Trump used that media network to get his message out. Certainly that ecosystem transmits and affects conversation internationally. It seems relatively clear to me that the environment in the UK are akin to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to flourish in the US."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already making its presence felt in Britain.

"Online platforms transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There is a certain environment within which content circulates – at times appearing in harsh versions and sometimes less so – but which is networked."

Professor Hinton said the growth of the digital conservative movement in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "chance to have a increasing influence is significant."

Cross-Atlantic Aspirations
